the boy and the deer vase
Dimensions: 13cm diameter X 13cm height
this is one of the two biggest pieces for this batch, I wanted to portray the disruptive effect of humans in nature, hence why this boy is lighting up a fire to keep him warm but the smoke released by the pit makes the deer scared and disturbed. I glazed everything except the smoke, which turned out brown instead of black due to the chemical interaction between the pigment and the kiln.
Behind the boy, three mountains stand, I made this by wheel throwing it and then hand painting it, using sgraffito.
this piece is for decorative and flower/plant use, but not food safe.
